Film making

 Film making

Around four weeks ago everyone in my class got put into groups of five to six people. The people in my group were Chainberlin, Piripi, Paige and Justin. We learnt about how to structure a script, make a storyboard and all of the angles. My favorite part of that whole experience was drawing what was going to happen (even though we changed the script in the middle of filming). Even though we never got to finish our film I still learnt a valuable lesson, when you're doing a film don't forget to speak loudly.

Purakau

 Myths and legends

Kia ora bloggers! Around two weeks ago my whole class finished a T shaped literacy called Purakau/myths and legends. We learnt a lot about some myths from different cultures and then we got to compare some gods that are gods of the same thing but from different cultures. My favorite part of that experience was making Tane Mahuta out of shapes. It was a little bit hard at the end but I ended up finishing it. Here is my Tane:

a very wacky Wednesday

 Wacky Wednesday

Last week I became a rollerskating frog for around 7 hours, this is what happened. Nearly EVERYONE in my school dressed up in the most weird, confusing and overall wacky for one whole school day, one of my best friends dressed up like a bird that looked nothing like a bird, my other friend dressed like a magician, this was definitely a wacky day. My favourite part of that whole day was roller skating down a hill as a frog. If I had to learn one thing that day is that being a rollerskating frog is pretty awesome

PAL DAY #2

 PAL DAY #2

2 weeks ago in my beautiful school we (we means all the people that were at school that day) had a really really fun sports block (a block is like a 1 or 2 hours of school). There were lots of fun games and they were all sport related. My favourite part was scoring 3 goals in one of the games, I could only play 3 games though. I really can't remember anything in the first game so… the second game i played was quite boring,it went really quickly too, that game was just soccer but with a bouncier and bigger ball. The last game I played was really fun, we had small pool noodles and there was a small ball, we had to try to push the ball into one of the goals without using our hands or feet,

nearly everyone was kicking it though. All of this taught me one thing… if you do something like participating in an activity in Paihia School you will get rewarded

Amazing Earthquakes and volcanoes

 Amazing Earthquakes and volcanoes

Last week my class (Te Maunga) finished a literacy called earthquakes and volcanoes. It was an amazing experience even though I didn’t finish it. We all learnt about all kinds of volcanoes and I learnt that there  is only one kind of volcano New Zealand doesn't have, (not counting the extinct ones in New Zealand) the shield volcano. Even though  I already knew this we went over what to do if there is an earthquake: if you are inside find a table or something sturdy that you can fit under then use one of your hands to hold onto the leg of that thing and use the other hand to cover your head. If you are outside, just do the same thing as quickly as you can.

Shakeout day

 Shakeout day

Today in our lovely class, Te Maunga, we did a very important test and that test was part of some amazing survival tips that will teach us all of the best ways to survive in a natural disaster. This time we learnt about surviving in an earthquake and if you don’t know I can tell you what to do right now. When an earthquake occurs the best thing to do is to take cover under a sturdy table or chair, use one hand to cover your head and the other to hold onto the leg of whatever you're hiding under, if you are outside then just do the same thing.

Amazing Olympic slides

 Olympic slides

Last term in our beautiful class, Te Maunga we (when I write we I mean my class and I) finished a literacy the teachers called, (drum roll please) Olympic Slides! This is a little bit of what happened: we had learnt all about the Olympics, for example we learnt where the Olympics were first made (they were first made in Ancient Greece) and how it might have improved over the years, we also learnt about some old Olympics legends and we compared the Ancient Olympics to the Modern Olympics. My favourite part was writing the last few words and doing the last little edits knowing that my work will all be done. Thank you for your time, see you soon!

The last day of term 3

The last day of term 3

On the last day of term 3 we (everyone in my school that day) had a big sports day, I barely remember anything about it though (I have a terrible memory). We played sports like soccer with a ginormous yoga ball and sports like darts. I learnt that playing soccer with that kind of ball is legal and that running around can be fun at times. One thing I liked doing was taking a break (I am not an energetic person who likes running). I think that was the best part. Overall it was really fun!

Measurement Math DLO

 Measurement Math

Good morning bloggers, my blog for today is about (drum  roll please) my Measurement Math DLO!!! This is everything you need to know. In this DLO I learnt about something I used to not know about at all, areas and perimeters! What is an area and perimeter in math you may be asking well, fear not for I have the answer. An area is pretty much just the inside of a shape. A perimeter is the outside of a shape, so it's like all of the lines that make the shape. My favourite part of this math thing was drawing all over my book. Have a nice day!

Te Reo Maori

 Te Reo Maori

About 6 weeks ago my class and I started a new Te Reo Maori slide presentation so this is what I remember. The first thing we focused on were colours in Maori, we learnt it by singing a song. The start of the song goes like this: ma is white, whero is red, kakariki green. I really liked testing my friend Braden on names of some animals. Overall I really liked it.

Research Project

 Research Project

Last week my class all did a research project. If you don't know what a research project is I will tell you, a research project (at my school) is when you get a topic to research about and you make a slideshow about it. This specific week we got to choose what topic we want to research about so me and Jayden decided to research about dogs. We learnt about dogs' terrific smell and much more about them. I enjoyed choosing which pictures we should use. Do you know how much better dogs can smell than us? Here is my research project:

Math DLO

 Math DLO

Last week my class and I created a math DLO. I learnt how to measure with a random strip of paper and that the black fence outside is 4 and a half metres. I also learnt how to tell the time. Measuring things are easy now that I finished it measuring things are easy. Here is my math DLO: DLO

Team Building

 Team building

Every Wednesday my class do a really fun thing called team building. For those who don’t know what team building is, it’s when we get into groups and do a team challenge. Every Wednesday I learn more and more about being a team player. Yesterday my favourite part of it was seeing Kova’s (my classmates) group sing Bob the Builder. I don’t think my group did very well, our song was Old Town Road but I think we should have done Shrekophone because it would be much easier and then I could go crazy.

Research project

 Research project

Two days ago everyone in my class created a research project. The research project had to be about a country. We had to do it in pairs and lucky for me my teammate was Bernadette. She is really REALLY smart and she's my friend. Sadly I had to go to Mr. Ngata for a math test. The country that we chose was the Philippines because she’s from there. We were so close to finishing but we just didn't have enough time. I really wish we finished that one.

Hauora

 Hauora

Last week my class and I created a new T shaped literacy about Hauora and muscles. One of the things that I learnt was that your smallest muscle is in your ear and it’s name is stapedius. I really liked making my Scratch animation although I did have to redo it like 5 times. The biggest muscle in your body is called gluteus maximus. Here is my scratch animation.

Reading of the week

Reading of the week

Last week my whole class made a T shaped literacy about character descriptions. I learnt that descriptions about your characters are one of those things that you just have to do in a story so the reader paints a picture of them in their head. My favorite part of what we did in it was drawing our own character. Here is the link to the description of my own character: The Clown

what is Te Maungas favorute number?

 Stats investigation

Last week all of the people made a mini class investigation. We all got to choose our groups, because me and Ryan (one of my classmates)  work so well together we chose to work with each other. First we grabbed our math books and drew a math table on them, our investigation was: “What is Te Maunga's favourite number? Then we wrote down our favourite number. Next we started to ask others what their favourite number was. After two days we finished asking people what their favourite number was and made a Google Sheet, then we ended up with Te Maunga’s favourite number, 9. My favourite part of it was asking people what their favorite number is. I like the number 42.

Sea Life activities

 Sea Life

Three weeks after the start of 2021 my class and I did sea life activities. The activities that I did  were oil spill and sea horses. In oil spill we got some oil and a container of water and poured the oil in the water, then we tried to clean the water with sponges, cotton balls and spoons. Nothing worked. Then we watched a video of people cleaning the ocean. I don't think I will ever come up with an idea like the idea the people had on the

Food for Thought

 Food for Thought

Last week my class and I did food for thought. Abi (the Food for Thought lady) taught me that Coco Puffs had 34.8 GRAMS of SUGAR!!! My favorite part of it was eating an apple at the Four Square. I would
DEFINITELY do it again.

Sea week

 SeaWeek

On March 24th we had visitors in to Paihia School called Jayden and Shirley. While we were getting taught about fish I learnt that you should not give food to a whale when it is on land. You should ALWAYS take a blanket (that you don't mind getting wet) when you go to the beach just in case a whale is on the beach. My favorite part of it was when we were  saving the whale.

THE TSUNAMI

 THE TSUNAMI

Last Friday there was a Tsunami warning. When I heard the alarm I got really frightened then mum told me and my sister (Amelia) to get our 72 hour bags because we were going to go up the hill behind our house so we were safe. The best part of that day was that my prayers were answered. I learnt that my prayers do get answered

The BEST Art

 The BEST Art

A few weeks ago me and my class made pepeha art. The pepeha art was going to be either a mountain, an awa or a waka… most of us choose a mountain (more like ALL of us). We coloured them in with pastels. My favourite part of it was hearing that mine was the best but I think Whaea Penny’s was the best.

The best Swimming Day

 The BEST Swimming Day

In the last few days we have been going to Russell so we can go swimming because the pool at my school is broken. At Russell School I learnt how to float on my back. My favourite part of it was hearing that I did a good job and that I should go in the big pool next time. I think that Bernadette was really good

Easter Auction

 Easter Auction

Last week my class had an Easter Auction. I really didn't learn anything except that class auctions are fun. My favourite part of it was when I got 10 Easter

eggs! I don’t think I have any more money left.
